Optimizing jpg objects in Word documents

I am inserting large .jpg images into Word documents, but
want to reduce their size. Can anyone offer simple
tips? I'm using Windows XP Home with MS Word 97 and MS
Paint 5.1.

As long you keep your originals untouched you´ll be free to
resize/resample/crop copies in formats of your own choice. A nice - and
free - app. is IrfanView which might be a best "friend".
Available for d/l: http://www.irfanview.com/ + a number of suppliers.
