Optional Section Rules

Hi!

I would like to make an optional section pop up automatically in one view,
provided that a control in another view is filled out or has the right
information in it. Is this possible?

Thanks!

Your answer applies only to views? And how does changing an optional section
to a regular section with a condition make it work across views? Would that
approach also work within a form?

I forgot to say I am using InfoPath 2007

Yes; to do so, follow these steps:

- convert your optional section to a regular section
- set up a conditional formatting rule on that section:
if (field that is bound to the control on another view is blank
or does not have the right information in it) then hide this control.

Good luck,
