Options for Data files Selection

Hi,

Current Environment Outlook 2003 SP2 with Exchange 2003.
Why is it that when I want to 'create or add' Data files, I only get a
choice of the ANSI version and not both ANSI and UNICODE i.e. the display to
choose type is 97-2002 version.

Is there anything which will 'block' the display?.

A corporate policy could block this. Some admins (wrongly) assume that this
is the way to fight the creation of large pst-files by the users.

Thank you for the response!. That could be a possibility (I just need to
confirm it), but Would not the policy affect every body?. In our case it is
affecting some and not others.

On another note,
- how would you identify a pst to be Unicode or ANSI
- if you have added a pst which was ANSI (2000 pst) by opening data file
typoe in Outlook 2003, is Outlook 'too smart' to block further pst creations
which are Unicode?.

Thanks

Did some more experimenting an thank you to MS for pointing this out.

Solution.
1. Locate MAPISVC.Inf (\comon files..)
2. [Services]
MSEMS=Microsoft Exchange Server
MSPST AB=Personal Address Book
MSPST MS=Outlook 97-2002 Personal Folders File (.pst)
MSUPST MS=Office Outlook Personal Folders File (.pst) <+++ Add this if
missing
CONTAB=Outlook Address Book

3. Close/open Outlook. try to create new data file and Voila! it is there
