options for developing custom form for MS Project

I'd like to develop a "service request" type of web form as an interface to
MS Project. It would be a pretty simple request form, where the information
is entered by someone requesting new work. It would populate a skeleton
project, which would then get reviewed by a project manager and filled out
later.

What kind of development tools or skill sets do I need to look for to do
this? I see a lot of VBA mentioned on this board. What about .NET or anything
else?

Or, is this simple enough to customize within MS Project Server Web Access,
and I just haven't figured out how yet?

I appreciate your input.

Thanks,
Lori

Hi,

One way is to have an Excel Template (in project select File, Save As and
select file type Excel. In the second wizard step choose Excel Template).
Create a form in a new sheet in the template and have VBA populate the Task,
Resource and Assignment sheets. Then simply open in Project. This too can be
automated from Excel VBA if you want.

Another solution is to use InfoPath. I think there are samples and white
papers on this in the Project SDK.

I wouldn't invest much effort in development against project server as the
PDS system for Project Server 2002 and 2003 is being totally replaced for
Project 12 (albeit by a significantly better system!)
