Options not persisting in Access 2k

I recently installed Office 2k on my new computer. When it was on my old
computer, I was able to set options under Tools/Options such as unclicking
Display New Object Shortcuts, and it would persist on whatever database I
opened or created. Now, it doesn't even persist on the same database if I
close and reopen it. Also, I customized a number of toolbars; when I do,
and open another database, the customized toolbars do not appear. Is there
an option somewhere that resets all defaults and toolbars that I can turn
off?

Well, I finally figured this out. I am running SpySubtract on bootup;
I had it configured to delete all recently-used file lists, including
that for Access. Apparently, Access stores option information somehow
in connection with this list; when I reconfigured SpySubtract to not
delete the Access recently-used-file list, my option settings and
custom toolbars persisted between bootups quite nicely.
Weird.
