order of Color Categories mix up in Outlook Connector

N

Norbert Aquende

im using the latest Outlook Connector for Windows Live in Outlook 2007.

When i set 2 categories for a calendar item, in a certain order i want,
sometimes the order gets mixed up when the calendar syncs. Is there a way to
make the primary color and secondary colors stick in my calendar?

not that I know of. Typically outlook uses the last selected color as the
default - what order is the connector using?

Yup, that how i know color categories should work. And that's how it works
on my outlook calendars *except* in the calendar used to synchronize to
Windows Live Calendar. The behavior is quite erratic, like i would make
mulitple copies of a calendar item for example by using copy & multiple
paste, and at first they would all be in their original color, but later on,
usually after a sync, some of the colors would change, but not all. weird.

im on a fresh install of windows vista, office 2007, and outlook connnector
from Windows Live Essentials btw - without an antivirus (it was causing my
office apps to hang)

weird.

The sync process appears to upset the color ordering. For me, after a sync
the colors are alphabetical by category name; i.e., the color I have
associated with "Business" always appears as the default if the item has
both "Business" and "Phone Call", even though before the sync I had the
"Phone Call" color first.

This problem is very annoying and compromises the effectiveness of the way I
use categories on my calendar. It occurs every time that Outlook Connector
syncs with my windows live and hotmail accounts. As Norbert said, the effect
is erratic, NOT (necessarily) alphabetical. The question remains unresolved -
is there a way to prevent this from happening? Personally, I do not use my
windows live calendar, so if I could set the Outlook Connector not to update
from live maybe that would prevent it? Is there a way to selectively update
components with Outlook Connector?

As far as I can tell, there is no way to prevent it.

Thanks for your reply. After reading over Norbert's dilemma again I realised
that the solution for me was revealed in the fact that it only happened with
the synced calendar. I simply made a new calendar in my private folder and
copied everything there.

If you create a new pst and set it as default the calendar will not sync
with the live calendar. You'll need to move your appointments to the new
calendar.
