ordinal numbers in dates in Excel

I'm sure there is an easy way which I have forgotten but I want to be
able to print dates like 22nd Feb 2003. Using dd mmm yyy gives 22 Feb
2003.

If that is the only way, surely this is something that should be on the
Excel wishlist and explains why 22 Feb 2005 becomes used more
frequently.

I thought there was a way using lists.

there's almost never only *one* way to do something.

You could create a custom list...

1st
2nd
3rd
....

but your list would have to cover all your expected numbers. It's not a
general solution.

make sure you put it there by choosing Help/Feedback on XL from the
XLv.X or XL04 menu.

Personally, I never use ordinal numbers in written communication, not
because of XL's limitations, but because of the extra characters which
convey little or no information.
