Org chart import from AD

MS Newsgroups

Hi,

I have a Active Directory which is very well structured with department,
company, manager, title information on all users. When I import this into
Visio 2002 using the org chart wizard and choose the option to automatically
let Visio arrange the page, I get the message that 42 users are not part of
my organisation, and if i choose to manually arrange the pages, these users
are excluded.

Does anyone know why this is, or perhaps know what attributes Visio looks at
when doing these imports

Many thanks

Niclas

what are the credentials of the logon that you are using? sounds like it is
not administrator of the domain....

I have full Administrative rights in AD.

Since you are mentioning this, Why would i need that ?, By default everyone
has read access to all objects in AD, would that not be sufficent to read
the attributes that creates the Org chart ?

My experience with the process (using VENT) is that the station with Visio
logs on to the server and the credentials supplied (i.e. the logon) and the
security settings of the server define what can be worked on. The interface
is a read/write interface with security being controlled at the user/group
level on the server. I'd try to determine which users are excluded and then
'chase the tree'.

I have compared the objects using ADSI edit, and i can't find anything that
distinguidhes the ones that are reported "not to belong to the
organization".

thanks for helping out anyway
