Org chart shapes don't connect

I have an organization chart that does not connect shapes when I drop a
subordinate on its superior. Is there a setting that controls this behavior?

First I would look under Tools > Options > Security and make sure Enable
Automation Events is checked. If not check it and restart Visio.

If that doesn't work I would try creating a new organization chart drawing
and pasting your existing shapes into it.
