Organisation Chart - Auto Layout

J

jazz

Hi, I am using organisation charts in PowerPoint 2000 and would like to know
where I find the auto layout that I can turn on and off. If I go into the
org chart itself I cannot find it ... I would like to have more control
over my box sizes.
Thanks. Jazz

If you want more control, I recommend that you don't even use Org Chart. Try
using PowerPoint's drawing tools. That's my preference.
Just using the rectangle and the elbow connector will do. --

Hi Sonia, yes, I have actually done that (as a last resort!). As a matter
of interest, though, is there a facility in org chart where I can change the
box sizes? I have read quite a bit of stuff in the discussion group
archives and reference is often made to turning auto layout off - I just
don't know where to find it! Thanks again for your help.

That's a capability available in PowerPoint 2002 and 2003. It isn't available
in PowerPoint 2000. The version of Org Chart in PowerPoint 2000 is not the same
as in newer versions of PowerPoint.

Hi Sonia, I have Powerpoint 2003 and have the same frustration - I cannot
turn off the auto format to size the boxes around the text. How do I do this?

You'll find the command in the Layout menu on the Organization Chart
toolbar.

At last! Thanks for this, very useful! I still say bring back the old
version of Org Chart 1.0 - There was nothing wrong with it!

Of course, when you move up to Office 2007 the AutoLayout function is gone,
again. Best bet is to move to Visio. You get lots of control there.
