Hello! I am looking for information, and suggestions on how to do four things:
1. Link/not embed Photographs of our users - in the details of the
individuals.
2. Create links and/or interface in the Visio OrgChart Web that I can click
on, that will take me to a search screen and fill in the search criteria for
the individual that I select, the search in PeopleSoft HRMS.
3. Split a very large unit into two or more linked pages.
4. Use the current OrgChart file in Visio with my management set up as the
template for the link to update - a constant update - or set to up date by
task.
Let me tell you what I am doing. I have Visio 2003 Professional, I created
an Access database that links to the SQL tables for PeopleSoft. In Access I
have the data I need in one table, created by queries, and other tables to
get the exact data I need. I then exported it to an Excel spreadsheet, then
into the Organization Chart Wizard (US Units). From there I have 50+ pages
of Managers and their staff (one manager has over 300 staff members - we are
not breaking down by smaller management units because of the huge movement of
staff), the first page is the highest level, with 4 levels of management
below that, and then broken down from the 4th level of management to their
own pages. I am looking to create a more direct link to the OrgChart other
than Access. I have a great "template" that took me a long time to create of
what exactly is required for our OrgChart, I would like to use this in future
updates, now I am manually updating it every 2 weeks - we have almost 3000
employees. My goal is to auto-update the OrgChart with little to no manual
intervention.
My #1 question - is there a way to just link the photographs of the
indivduals, or do I have to embed them into the file? (The file is at almost
23 MB now in html format).
#2 - To create a Link that allows me to click on an individual on the
OrgChart web page, and then it takes me back to the search page (it is
already open in another browser session), takes some unique detail and fills
in the certain criteria (i.e - employee ID), and then does a command of enter
in PeopleSoft to go to that individual's job summary.
#3 - I have a few pages that have more than 100 persons/shapes on the page -
I cannot change or make it smaller by other managers/supervisors - In the web
page it is very small, I want to split it up and keep the link between the
pages - for example - link says next page - and the shapes are still linked
to the manager on the first page.
#4 - Use the setup .vsd file as the template for the Visio 2003 OrgChart
Wizard, keeping position numbers basically where they are, at least related
to manager on that page, and then set up by classification title, then
alpabetically arranged - very complicated! Or continue the update like in
2002 Visio - where I can keep the links, although my file was so large, that
it crashed my computer before completion.
This is a lot, but you should have seen what I had before these! I have
solved a lot already, but these are my next tasks. I appreciate that you
even took the time to read this far, and hopefully we can get one or more
answers to my questions. Thanking you in advance!
