Original CD is in Asia: how to abort Outlook install?

The patient (a Win2K laptop) is suffering because I tried to add
support for corporate email on a heretofore internet-only Outlook
install, BEFORE I realized that the Office 2000 CD was... somewhere,
either in Asia or in London - not here in Milan.

Now Outlook won't start because on both reboot and on trying to open
Outlook I always get an automatic attemp to install the additional
service from the missing CD.

**** Is there a reasonably simple hack (registry?)
that will let Oulook 2000 start as it did before? ****

Thank You in Nervous but Eager Anticipation,

Hmmm,
MS Products asking for a CD when they shouldn't need one is one of the
annoying things about MS Products.

A couple of things to try:
1) If it is starting on "startup", try to find where it is starting.

I haven't looking at this, but try looking in:

H-Key-Local Machine
Microsoft
Windows
Current Version

You should find a "Run" and "Run Once", and a few other similar
directories. Is the office install starting there?

Any idea what the install program is that is running (calling the one that
is running)? Perhaps look at your tasks with Ctrl-Alt-Delete, and then
search the registry for anything that appears to be out of place.

I would say that you are best off either getting the original install disk,
or re-installing Office.

I am not sure how to make MS ignore the need to run the startup.
