Orphaned windows on screen

The current version of Office has many problems, not the least of which is that it leaves
some invisible windows on the screen, which don't redraw, but hide what is under them with
whatever random pixels were last displayed on that area of the screen. Has anyone else
seen this happen, and short of shutting down the office app, is there any known solution?

If I follow what your describing correctly, this has happened on my Win2k
sys with many apps other than my Office2K. Its a random occurrence which I
thought was connected to my graphics hardware. In my case I realised that
the 'invisible window' could be 'wiped' by moving an active window across
it - rather like cleaning dirty glass -
