OS crash when open Word 2000

Richard Lou

The computer installed Windows 2000 SP4 and Office 2000 SR-1. It works
normally for long time.

When I open Word, it runs for about fifteen seconds then the computer reboot
suddenly. I can't find any thing in Event log. Scan the computer with latest
NAV and have no virus found.

But other applications of Office, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint work OK.

Any expert can help?

Thanks for your information.

But it doesn't solve the problem. The problem is computer reboot, not the
Word quits immediately. If runing in Safe mode, Word works normally.

Have you tried renaming Normal.dot? Nuking the Registry? Eliminating
add-ins?

I found the reason. It's very strange.

The problem is caused by local printer. After removing the printer, Word
could work. But I can't reinstall the printer driver any more.

The local printer is RICOH OfficeStyler T10.

Download an updated driver from the manufacturer's Web site.

Thanks for you all. I just fixed the issue:

* Uninstall Windows 2000 SP4 back to SP2 !!!

Now, I can reinstall the printer driver and Word is OK.

Thanks again.
