OS X, Power Mac G-4, Format + Paragraph

When I pressed Command + Option + Shift, I ended up with my cursor
being a Minus sign, which I did not seem to be able to get rid of.
With this Minus sign cursor, I clicked on Format + Paragraph, and the
Paragraph disappeared from my menu. Even working with a different
account was not helpful, even after turning the computer off.
SOS !! Can anyone help me? Thank you!
