osa.exe

I am trying to get rid of unneeded startup programsand I
ran into "osa.exe" which I have determined to be Office XP
Startup Assistant. I am told performance will degrade if
it is removed; however, it appears that is true ONLY if I
am using Office XP. I am using Office 2000 and Windows
2000 Pro. Can I safely remove osa.exe.

Thanks...

I've had this disabled (via Startup CPL) for a long time and never noticed
any negative effect. The really odd thing is that although the shortcut
points to osa.exe, there's no such file on my system. Maybe that's why
not running it has no effect.

There is an osa9.exe, but that starts the Office shortcut bar. I'm
running Office 2000.
