osa9.exe is not responding

Using windows XP pro. when I access create new document
or open office document through shortcut it will work
several times ok then I will try to use the shortcut
create new document and nothing happens. I shut down the
computer and get message "winwod.exe-dll initialization
failed". I f I access "open office document" I get to
dialogue to select file. I select it and office flag in
box shows up on task bar. If I right click I my only
option is "close" I close and get message "osa9.exe is
not responding" then I end task. If either of the above
happen I reboot and everything works ok for a few times
then the same routine. If I open via the word shortcut or
if I open existing via exploreer it is ok at any time.
