I have someone that everytime she tries to connect to
outlook, she gets an error message saying "This program
has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.
DETAILS: Outlook caused an invalid page fault in module
OUTLLIB.DLL at <address>.

I deleted the OUTLLIB.DLL file and that didn't work. I
uninstalled outlook itself and that didn't work. I found
an article on Microsoft's website with Q number Q212964,
but she has the .ost file local to her pc and it's not
being shared. She has an windows 98 OS and it's Office
2000. Any suggestions? Thanks.

rename the *.ost file to *.old and try to restart Outlook. Since an ost-file
is nothing more than an Offline copy of your mail you won't loose anything
(except for the offline copy ofcourse)

Hope this helped!

I had the person to try and rename it and she said that
she didn't have that option to rename it if she right
clicked it. I was talking to her over the phone so I'm not
for sure if she was doing the right thing or not. I didn't
mention before, but I also deleted office completely and
she still gets the same error message even after we
reinstall it.

She needs to rename the file in Explorer. She could also move the file to
another location (e.g. the Desktop) as you only need it for backup. Once
copied to another location she can delete the ost-file. Re-installing
doesn't work if the ost-file is corrupted as all the profile settings still
exist even after a re-install of Office.

Thanks a lot for your help Roady, but we're still having
trouble with her .ost file. I had her rename it to .old,
restart her pc, try to go into outlook once more, but
she's still getting the error message. After we rename it
and reboot the pc, attempt to go into outlook, I assume
outlook recreates an .ost file for her because she has
an .ost file and an the new .old file. Any other
suggestions? I appreciate the help so far...

Your welcome :)

Have yo tried to disable the usage of an ost-file? It is in the account
properties. Is she connected to an Exchange server? Than I believe it is on
the Advanced tab. When you have disabled the usage of a pst file close
Outlook and delete the ost-file and restart Outlook again. You might also
want to try and recreate the mail profile completely. Goto
configurationscreen-> mail-> button Show Profiles.
