.ost to .pst - Outlook 2003 - Help Please

I have rather embarassingly managed to delete a substantial .pst file but I
have managed to recover the corresponding .ost file.
Is there any way that I can retrieve the data from the .ost file and
recreate it into a .pst file? I have tried simply renaming the file from .ost
to .pst but Outlook does not recognise it.
Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.
