OSX Update

Tom Dyer

Hi all

Apple has released an update for OSX that will take it to version 10.3.8
It includes enhanced support for third party applications, improved display
drivers and security updates.

If you are having trouble with Office it would be worth installing the
update.

Run Software Update from the Apple menu to install.

There are also Networking updates that may benefit the people having
problems saving files over network drives from Office...

Hi Tom-

Thanks for posting the update notice!

There has been a great deal of activity in Apple Discussions about this
update, so just as a reminder to anyone who plans to install it, read &
follow the installation instructions. Those who appear to have taken
"shortcuts" seem to be the ones having problems. Feedback from those
who have followed recommended procedure has been very positive.

DO NOT install if you have immediate need of your system for
significant projects unless you;

1) Back Up your boot disk first,

2) Run the Cron routines if you don't typically leave the system on
overnight,

3) Repair Permissions both before & after installation.

There have also been suggestions that you use the Combined Updater if
you aren't certain that all previous updates have already been
installed successfully.

Hi

I've had two kernel panics and a hard freeze since installing 10.2.8. Apple
suggested checking the file system for errors. Am running Disk Warrior, &
already repaired permissions.
