Other users with FULL access to my calendarcan not edit existing entries

As the subject states, I have given the PA of our CEO's calendar and she can create new appointments but not edit appointments he has made which is her job.

Is this a limitation of Exchange with Entourage or am I doing something wrong?

Look forward to a reply as this is a big problem.

Well that shouldn't be the case. Delegation works just fine for me hwew.
What version of Entourage do you use?? I hear that things were
tremendously imprived in this regard for 2008.

Hi Corentin.

First I tried by right clicking on the calendar and give people access via sharing which lets people add things to the shared calendar but not change or remove anything.

Next I logged onto the Exchange server, clicked on my entry and added another user via mailbox rights under the exchange advanced tab, that also did not work.

I'm at a loss how to get this working.

The Mac's use Office 2004 with every update run that was available, the server is a SBS.

Wellllllll that would be a server issue then....

Hi Corentin.

You mean I need to talk to me? (I'm the IT Manager here).

I have done some more testing and it is 100% an Entourage problem. If I log onto the server using Outlook 2003 client I can edit, change, delete entries on anyones calendar (providing its shared of course) but when using Entourage I can't.

Starting to wish I had waited a bit longer for Apple's groupware to come out :(

Then there is something I don't understand. You mentioned:

This takes Entourage out of the loop, doesn't it...
.... or what do you mean by "I logged onto the Exchange server"???

I used Remote Desktop Connection to remote control my Windows Small Business server which has Exchange installed. Then I located my user entry and gave another user full access to my entire mailbox (just to rule out that it was a rights issue).

Seems whatever settings I use for sharing Entourage 2004 users can not edit existing entries in a shared calendar.

If I add the CEO's email account to the PA's Entourage she can edit but obviously I only want to share the calendar, not his contacts and personal emails.

This is a known problem with Entourage. The delegate rights do not
always work, even though everything is set up correctly (i.e., you've
gone in to the Tools, Accounts, Advanced tab and set up the delegate
rights on the "person with delegate rights" account). We have grappled
with the problem over and over again. The exchange rights are set and
working, i.e., it works fine in Outlook 2001 (the old tried and true
mac version) and Outlook for Windows. Microsoft has admitted this
problem in Entourage 2004 and also during the beta phase for Entourage
2008. They do not have a fix that I know of.

SOMETIMES, we can get the problem fixed (I'm also the Exchange
administrator) if we rebuild the user (the one giving delegate rights)
account from scratch on the Exchange server, but not always.

Face it - Entourage and calendaring functions are still not best
friends, nor does it look like they will function well with Exchange
in the near future.

OK, I get it now.

That obviously shouldn't be the case (and it's not the case for me
here).

Yeah, on our setup we can share whaever we want and assign specific
permissions to mail, address book or calendar without any problem. There
is definitively something not right for you.

Take a look at Hattie Leary's post in the same thread,
It looks like you're not the only one with this problem and the psot
suggests a solution,

All problems resolved via a workaround, I thought I would share it with people on here:

In order to get proper syncing/sharing of calendars and contacts you have to:
- delete ALL shared users
- create the shared users again but set permissions to NONE
- configure the users you want to create sharing settings for on Outlook 2003 for Windows
- open the delegate window and set the permisions

Done! This works flawless exactly the way it’s supposed to work, people can now edit, change, invite etc
