This is a strange problem caused by, of all things, security problems.
Ensure the permissions are read/write to the MDB. Actually it should
really be read/write/delete for the entire directory otherwise the
permissions on the MDB itself will be lost when the MDB is compacted.
Would you be so kind as to post exactly what permissions you do have
so I can add them to my web page on this topic at
http://www.granite.ab.ca/access/error3042.htm ? And whether or not
this did indeed fix the problem.
