My out of office message from August (expired in August) has suddenly
appeared again...but the option is now gone from my Tools menu, so I can't
turn it off. I really don't think I was ever on a Microsoft Exchange server,
but all the help topics tell me that I need to be for that feature. I am on
POP3 and have always been, as far as I know.

Any advice? Every recipient of my emails replies with "did you know that you
sending out of office messages from August?" ...making me crazy.

Unless you are connected to Exchange, Outlook has NO Out of Office Assistant
so if you were never on Exchange, there's no way you could ever have turned
the OOA on. Many ISPs offer OOA functionality. Were I in your shoes, I'd
connect to my ISP mailbox and see if the OOA there was turned on.

Is it safe to assume you checked your Inbox rules to make sure that you
don't have a rule doing this?
