Out of office assistant in Outlook

I have set my out of office assistant to reply to my
incoming mail while I'm out of the office, but it does
not work. It does not give me an error message and it
will ask me if I want to deactivate it when I send a
message, but it does not reply to my messages. I am
using an exchange server for email.

Are these emails from internal or external addresses?
I think you'll find that by default Exchange Server will not reply to an
external email, if it did, spammers would know your email address was
genuine.
