Out of Office assistant not working on "external" emails

Dan

I have someone who is having an odd problem, recently his
mailbox was moved from Exchange 5.5 to an E2K server.
When he is out of the office and sets his out of office
auto assistant, people internal to the company (on the
same exchange server) receive his "out of office" reply
but if someone from an external source (customer) emails
him they never receive the out of office message. He is
not approaching his send limit and nothing else in
Outlook is misbehaving. Any ideas anyone??

Thank You,

Dan

By default, out-of-office responses are sent only to internal addresses.
This is an Exchange server option and can be changed, but it's generally a
very bad idea to send such responses to every spammer, scammer, and
cracker who may happen to send you email while you're gone.
