I support a large number of desktop users mostly running windows xp. I have
between 25-50 users(probably more) who cannot use their out of office
assistant function in MS Outlook 2003. (we are running an exchange server).
If a user clicks on Tools > Out of Office Assistant, they receive the
following error:
The command is not available.
This problem will only occur if the outlook client is setup with cached
exchanged mode turned on. If you turn it off, the out of office assistant
works fine, HOWEVER it is againist company policy to have cached exchanged
mode turned off.
I have tried recreating the .ost file, which will work the first time the
user opens outlook, then after he/she closes and reopens, the problem is back.
I have tried recreating profile, with the same results as recreating .ost
file.
I have tried the registry edit to remove the resilency key, with no luck.
I have had the users moved from one mailbox to another on the exchange
server, with no change in the problem, not sure what else to do.
Please Help!!
