When I select the tools menu thier is not option for the
out of office assistant. I have it at work but not at
home.

I believe that it's because the "message" is sent from the
server, not the client. Outlook is on the client (you),
not the server (in your case).

This option is only available in an Exchange environment.

To recreate it at home you should create a Rule (in
Outlook 2003; Options-> Rules and Alerts...).

-Start blank rule
-Check when message arrive
-don't select any conditions
-action; reply with specific template (click it to select
template)
-create an exception for "except if the subject contains
specific words" and specify words like "autoreply", "auto-
reply", "faillure", etc to prevent and enless stream of
mails against other automatically generated mails (this
will fill you inbox pretty quick or even bring a
mailserver down!)
-finish

To create a template;
-create a new mail
-fill in the subject and the message field (not the To
field!)
-choose file->save as...
-select "Outlook template" as the file type
-choose a name and the location of the file and click save

Good luck!

I have been attempting to do this but I keep receiving an
error for the rule. The error message does not explain
the problem it just says Rule Error. Any ideas why it
would be giving me this error?

Thank you.
