out of office auto-reply

We have one user who has upgraded to Outlook 2007, while the rest of our
users are still running Outlook 2000. I have set up an auto-reply for some
of our users in Outlook 2000. I would create a rule and set it to reply with
a message when mail is received. This process is not working with the
Outlook 2007 user. I have created the rule, but it doesn't send the reply
when mail is received. Is there a trick to setting up auto-replys with
Outlook 2007?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks.

it should work in Outlook 2007 just like it does in Outlook 2000. State your
exact rule.

The rule is "Apply this rule after the message arives from," next is the list
of all the people in this users address book, then "reply using," next is the
file name of the template that I setup. The template I set up is a .oft file.
When a message is received from someone that is listed in the rules, they
don't get a reply.

I read through the document that you suggested, and that is exactly how I
have it setup. I even went to the extent of deleting the original rule and
re-creating it from scratch with those instructions in front of me. It still
does not reply.
For what it's worth, we do not have an Exchange Server. We have a cheap
pop3 email server. The instructions stated that this feature is meant to run
with an Exchange Server. Could that be my problem?

I am having exactly the same problem with MS Outlook 2007. I have set up
autoreply the exact same way as depicted in the doc link sent by Brian T. In
order to test whether I receive an autoreply from MS Outlook, I sent a test
message from my yahoo account to my POP3 (MS Outlook) account. The mail went
through but I do not see any autoreply coming back to my yahoo account. Any
thoughts/suggestions would be appreciated.
