If you're using POP, the way to set up an out-of-office message is through
the web access to your mail account provided by your ISP.

Hi Ed or anyone. So I can't send an out of office message with entourage?
I have to call my server and see if they will do it? thanks for responding...

I believe you CAN send an out-of-office message in E 2008, but I wouldn't
recommend it. In order for it to work, you have to leave E 2008 running and
online while you're out of the office.

I recommend you save electricity, shut down your Mac while you're gone, and
let your server handle it. Most ISPs have a way to set up the message online
so you shouldn't have even to make a phone call.

You can set it in Entourage if you have an Exchange account and Office
2008.
With Office 2004, you need to go to the OWA webpage and set it up there
(in the options).

With POP or IMAP, it just cannot be supported per se. It's a server-side
feature that's not standard on these protocols. Some servers support it
and you have to go through your webmail page to set it up.
You can still create a rule (make sure to exclue mailing lists and
yourself) to send an auto-reply on all messages. It requires to keep
Entourage running while you are away though,

Corentin,
Thanks for clearing up that it only works with Exchange, not POP or IMAP.
Since I don't use Exchange or E 2008, I did not make the comparisons clear
enough. Your explanation is clearer.
