Out Of Office reply message without using Microsoft Exchange

Hello, has anyone heard of how to set up a template for
Outlook 2000 that is also an Out Of Office message. I
know that the Out Of Office assistant is not available
under Outlook 2000 that uses a POP3 account. However,
there is a way of doing a template that you can save as
an Out Of Office type of message. I have done the
following, I found a file on the Microsoft website that
states that you can use an Out of Office template to
duplicate what the Out Of Office in Microsoft Exchange
will do. However the template I need has an .oft
extension. I am not allowed to save under that
extension, but I just change the file after saving to
the .oft extension (instead of the .doc extension) so to
speak. However, when I go to the rules wizard in Outlook
& try to use templates, the particular template will not
show up. Does anyone know or have they done anything
similar to this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

P. S. - Any day above ground is a great day!!!

You will need to temporarily disable Word as your e-mail editor to create
the .OFT file in Outlook's editor. Then you should be able to use the .OFT
in an auto reply rule.

Though I would like to point out that this would also verify your email
address to spammers, so you'd end up with ten times as much spam as you did
before you went away.
