Outbox error with outlook 2003

Help anyone? My outbox has started showing messages in it (displayed to right
of folder) even though they have been sent. Then when I close outlook it
always says "unsent items in outbox, do you want to exit?" even though there
are no items to send. How do I fix this?

I had this problem too, which occurred when I was exploring "Options" and
unchecking boxes I didn't think applied to me. This fixed the problem for me:
Tools-->Options-->Mail Setup (tab)-->Send/Recieve. Check the box "Include
this group in send/receive(F9)".

The reason I had unchecked it is because I had only one e-mail account
set-up, so I didn't think "Group" of "All Accounts" applied to me, but it
did. I don't know if this applies to your situation, but its worth checking
out.
