OUTBOX MSG STUCK, not italic

W

Will

I use: OUTLOOK 2000, MS EXCHANGE SERVER,
I am in Asia, connecting to a company server in Europe via a leased line.
(In the text below "send" or "synchronize" gives the same results.)

When I send a new eml, it shows "italic" in the outbox and sends okay.

When in the outbox I click on the newly created eml (just highlight, not
open) before it was sent, the italic changes to regular and they do not send
anymore. When I open the eml and select SEND, it does not change back to
italic and it does not send.
In all these cases the date in column "sent" is "none".

When I open the eml and select FILE >proporties>Send options: it shows:
- sent this item - "immediately" = selected

When I reply to or forward an eml, it does not show italic and does not send.

For some colleagues it seems to help to move the eml to the DRAFT folder and
send from there. (info from our helpdesk). It did not work for me. Obviously,
copy/paste the email into a NEW email will work.

I used HELP, and checked the mail service which is MSEXCHANGE SERVER which
appears to be correct.

I checked: Tools>Services>MSExchange Server> proporties>General:
-selected are:
"manually control connections status"
default connection state = "Connect with the network"

Anyone knows what to do to resolve this issue?

Do you have the preview pane open? What are the options for it? As I
understand it, if you 'read' a message that is in the Outbox, it won't send
anymore unless you open it and hit Send again. And that includes preview
pane options. Of course, I could be imagining all of that be completley
wrong.
When I reply to or forward an eml, it does not show italic and does not

This sounds completely different. Just to verify what you're seeing here:

If someone sends you a mail and you reply to it and you do not open the
Outbox (or have any window open looking at the Outbox) the message never
sends?

Hi FH,
Prepane is always closed (I do not use it at all).

Sending without opening the OUTBOX:
This works fine!!

Several scenarios, not fully understood:
When I reply to several emails and open the outbox afterwards, all emails
remain italic, except the first one. This one is automatically 'selected'
(reverse video blue) by outlook and the sent date is 'none'. When I click
on any of the other outgoing messages , they change from italic to regular
and also the date becomes 'none', hence they will go.
Sometimes (not always) when I make a new msg, it will remain italic in the
outbox.

Note;
We work in a WAN. We work either ofline or online. We need to synchronise
the outlook content in our laptops regularly with the one in the server of
the company.
Online all works like a charm, but at this distance some actions become a
bit slow. Thus we often prefer to work 'offline' , but then this problem
appears.

Ok, lets look at something. Go into the Outbox and go to the View menu,
Preview Pane is not checked, correct? If you simply click on a message in
any of the other folders, does it get marked as read?
Sending without opening the OUTBOX:

This actually beggars the question. Why are you going to the Outbox at all?
I've used Outlook for a long time and I've rarely ever had to.

----ANSWER: CORRECT

If you simply click on a message in
any of the other folders, does it get marked as read?

----ANSWER: NO, the line for that message does not change

This actually beggars the question. Why are you going to the Outbox at all?
I've used Outlook for a long time and I've rarely ever had to.

----ANSWER: INDEED we came to the same conclusion. Sometimes however, you
want to update an email that was already prepared and put in the outbox.
Then you go there to avoid it being sent, before you synchronise. At that
time at least one message (the top one) will have the problem.
which leads to the next question: why does it not change to ITALIC when I
open it and select SEND again? . .

Thanks so far,
Will
