Outbox problems - Either Microsoft or McAfee

Since this morning, and after downloading UPDATES from
both MICROSOFT (WinXP) and from MCAFEE (ViruScan Online &
Personal Firewall), I have the same problem on two Win XP
computers - one with OUTLOOK 2002, and the other with
OUTLOOK 2000.

Judging from the microsoft.public.outlook newsgroup, the
problem seems to be happening all over the world.

After much investigation with my ISP, working with
enable/disable combinations of my McAfee Viruscan Online
and Personal Firewall, and after running a complete scan
for viruses
-- I conclude THERE IS A POBLEM WITH the latest UPDATE
DOWNLOAD from either MCAFEE or MICROSOFT (WINDOWS UPDATE -
WinXP). I downloaded updates from each (McAfee &
Microsoft) overnight, and my problem has started
thereafter.

The symptom is that when sending out any email via
Outlook (2000&2002 both), it gets stuck (stays listed in
Outbox). Looking in the "Outlook Send/Receive Progress"
window, it issues an error message every few seconds,
cycling between error 0x800CC0B 'Unknown Error',
0x8004210B, '... error ... response from SMTP', and
0x8004210A, '... error ... response from POP.
- The error messages repeat forever. The email never does
get sent out.

Same problem, installed the latest security patch for
windows 2000 Adv Server now outlook clients cannot get
mail from outside our subnet. Inside the network
everything is fine, but anywhere outside the network the
outlook client cannot connect to the exchange server.

How do we get someone from Microsoft or McAfee to listen?
I have to believe this is a common problem occuring to a
millions of people. I've tried online chats/workgroups
directly to their Support teams, but they are so bogged
down that I can't get in - much less, to have them listen.
