Outgoing mail appears as 'sent' but doesn't reach recipients.

For a couple of days now I have become aware of the fact that outgoing mail
appears in 'sent' folder of MS Outlook but does not reach recipients. I have
checked with some of my contacts and they all have confirmed that my emails
have not reached them. I have also checked by sending emails to my
professional address. They failed to arrive. What could be the problem and
how could I resolve it? Thanks for any help and advice.

The fact that they are in the Sent Items folder means that Outlook has
succesfully passed the message on to the transport provider which means that
something went wrong AFTER Outlook has submitted the message ruling out
Outlook as the cause of your issue. If you have a virus scanner that
integrates with Outlook disable this integration and try again. It is the #1
cause of mail going up in thin air.

Also, make sure that your ISP is not black listed by the ISP's you are
sending to. Where I use to work, this happened to us. Our email server was
configured as a relay server. Hence the black listing.

If your ISP has a "webmail" option try that. I've just had the same problem
with Tiscali (didn't work with Outlook or webmail). I've actually changed my
ISP to get round the problem.
