Outgoing Mail Problem

P

Peter

I'm starting to wonder why no-one will respond to my postings.

OL2002(SP2) + Win XP Pro (SP1) - Using POP3 Mail.

Can send mail with no problems except if has attachments.

When there is an attachment, the message stays in the outbox and sends
continually.

I have disabled the AV software but this still occured.

I looked at the some articles that state adding a key to the registry
(UseInetcommCS) - this still did not work.

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=827149 mentions a hotfix - is
this what I require?

Any information would be of help.

Regards - Peter

if you get the errors mentioned in
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=827349, and use a mail server
that requires both Secure Sockets Layer security (SSL) and Secure Password
Authentication (SPA)? then yes, it should help.

are you using a router and connecting to cable or DSL? changing the mtu
settings might help
http://help.stargate.net/broadband/mtu.shtml

Thanks Diane,

Using a DSL connection with Telstra Bigpond.

Unable to change MTU settings with DSL modem.

This has only occured since the installation of Service Pack 2 for Office
XP.

Do I call MS for this patch?

Are you getting a message about unsafe attachments?

MTU settings are changed in Windows - why won't it allow you to change them?

The hotfix is for users that connect to servers that requires both Secure
Sockets Layer security (SSL) and Secure Password Authentication (SPA) -
does your server require both SSL and SPA? (These are check boxes in the
account settings dialogs.) if yes, then call Microsoft.

No - servers do not require SSL or SPA
No - I am not getting messages about unsafe attachments.

Can change MTU settings in Windows XP

Should I be making the MTU lower?

FIXED! None of the recommended methods worked.

The problem was a corrupt data file. The Outlook Data File was just under
1Gb!

1. I exported all data to a PST file.
2. Deleted Mail Profiles
3. Created NEW mail profile
4. Created mail accounts
5. Imported DATA from PST file
6. Tested - OK

Hope this info helps someone that experiences same symptoms.
