outline a line

I want to draw a line and make it really thick then either convert it to that
shape or outline the edges of the line with a thin line. Is there a fast way
to convert a line like that or am I just stuck doing it manually?

I tried to copy the thick line and paste special as metafile hoping it would
treat it as a shape but no luck, it retains the line properties.

Figured it out.... I draw my line then do Shape-Operatons-Offset, and pick my
thickness. Cool....
