While testing Project Server 2007, I had a custom (multi-node) field
called "Performer" which consisted of Location.Dept.Division.Team -
you get the picture.
It appeared to me that I needed to have separate custom fields for
each of these nodes in order for PWA to rollup cost and work hours at
those different levels in the organization when doing a Group By.
Low and behold, I started using the old Project Server 2003 PWA and I
only needed the multi-node Performer field and as long as I displayed
all outline code levels, it automatically provided multiple layers of
subtotals and totals from Team all the way up to Location.
I figured I just didn't set the outline code level viewing correctly
in PWA 2007, but alas, it didn't work after I displayed all outline
code levels.
Is this another bug in 2007 or do I need to set something else
differently in order not to have to have a separate "group by" field
for each node in the original PWA 2003 outline code in order to
present users with multi-layer totals?
I hope I'm making sense.
Thanks,
Andy Novak
