Outline Codes v Text Fields

I note Text fields now have lookup tables that appear to be the same as the
ones used by Outline Codes. What therefore is key difference between choosing
to employ Text or Outline Codes?

Hi,

1. Outline codes can be multi-level
(e.g. Finance.Control.Budget)
2. If you are using Server, outline codes can be in "the cube" whereas text
files can't
(Hearsay, I'm not a Server nor Cube specialist)
