Outline Expanding For No Reason

I'm using Onenote 2007 in law school where we have to make very long,
multi-level outlines for each class. I am experiencing an annoying
behavior/glitch:

I have multiple pages in a section. One page will have a long,
detailed outline a large section of which I will collapse. I will
switch to another page in the section and edit something. When I
return to the page with the outline, it is expanded again. Any
explanations/solutions?
