Outline Formatting Keeps giving me Bullets

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

I want to an outline that looks like this:

A) Love
1. democracy
i. you
ii. me

NO BULLET POINTS DARNIT! Sorry not mad at you just at microsoft. When ever I press enter it goes back to bullet points and I have to reformat it.

I have it set so that tabs and backspace set indents but the problem still isn't fixed. Thank you so much for your help.
