Outline Numbering Shortcut on Toolbar

I have set up my own customized outline numbering default in Word 2003. When
I use an outline numbered format within a document I want what I have
customized to be my default {rather than having to go to Format\Bullets and
Numbering\Outlined Numbering\Selecting my default} I would like to have a
shortcut for this on my toolbar.

I know I can create a macro, but I was wondering if there was an easier way
of going about this.

Any help is greatly appreciated :)

What you want to do is create a List Style that contains your numbering
preferences. Then when you want to use your custom numbering apply your
style. However, for either method you'd need to create a macro if you want
to add it to a toolbar.

Thank you Beth. This worked out perfectly. One question I do have though is:

Going forward I have my new style available to me but any documents that I
have previously created this style does not exist. Is there a way to have
this style available to me for any documents I have created before I added
this new style?

Thank you!

You can use the Organizer to copy styles between documents. To access the
Organizer, on the Developer tab click Document Template and you'll see a
button for the Organizer at the bottom of the dialog box.

If you don't see the Developer tab, click the Office Button, click Word
Options, and in the Popular section select "Show Developer tab in the
Ribbon".

Also note if you need to access the Organizer a lot you may want to add it
to your Quick Access Toolbar (QAT). The Organizer command can be found in
the "Commands not in the Ribbon" list. To customize your QAT, right-click
the QAT and then click the "Customize..." command.
