Outline Numbering

Am I right in thinking that you can only have a maximum of
9 levels when using Outline Numbering?

I'm using the following format in Word 2002:

1, 1.1, 1.1.1 etc.


Is there any way to have more than 9 levels?

Any help would be appreciated.

It is correct that the outline numbering feature of Word
supports not more than nine levels of numbering. But you
can combine LISTNUM and STYLEREF fields to accomplish up
to 18 levels of numbering, as described by Bruce Brown
in "18 levels of numbering without tears". In order to
