outline templates

The templates in Word are not how I learned. Here is what I'd like. Where is this available?

Hi Merlene -

I'm not sure what you're referring to as a "template" but it sounds like
what you're looking for is Outline Numbering - for which there is no default
button as there is for simple Numbering & Bullets.

Go to Format> Bullets & Numbering, click the Outline Numbered tab. You'll
find the style you're looking for 3rd from the left, bottom row. This will
probably get you by if this is for a single, relatively uncomplicated
document, but if you'll be needing this routinely and/or are building a
complex document you'd be better off creating your own numbering style.

You might also want to explore the use of Outline View if you are actually
doing an extensively outlined project.
