Outlined Bullets

For some reason, a change has happened in my bullets. When I go to the next
line and tab, the outlining doesn't happen - it just continues with the next
number.

Ex:
This is what I want and used to get:
1) test of bullets
a) this is a test

This is what I get now:
1) test of bullets
2) this is a test

I must have done something to change it.

Format | Bullets and Numbering | select the Outline Numbering Tab and click
on Customize and change your settings.

Tools | AutoCorrect Options | AutoFormat As You Type: check the box for "Set
left- and first-indent with tabs and backspaces."
