Outlining Format Question

TROY CALDWELL

I do not see any means of adjusting the right margin of outlining view on
Microsoft Word X for Mac. I would like the outline to take up the usual
full width of the page (less a small margin) like regular text pages do. Is
there a setting that allows this so when I print an outline there will not
be so much wasted paper on the right side?

Thank you,
Troy

Hi Troy:

No. Outline View is an artificial view that is built on the fly for editing
purposes: it was never designed to be printed (although it can be).

If you want a proper printed copy, add a table of contents to the document
and print that.

And your Editor will tell you that if an Outline View runs full width, your
headings are too long. My Editor would insist that I shorten each heading
until it occupies no more than 3/4 of a line :)

Cheers
