I type in a name or phrase into the search box to search inside a mail
folder, have two "Personal" and Business", and it does not find anything and
states "Outlook is indexing and shows a number. It was working perfectly and
understand having to index new mail items coming in.
I have tried three fixes so far repair this situation:
1. Ran Office Diagnostics - it found 1 thing wrong, it did not say what,
but did not fix the problem
2. Restored the system at a calendar date I knew Office search was working,
5 days ago.
3. Closed Office, went to the Control Panel (Vista) and launched System
Maintenance, Indexing Options, and in Advance Rebuilt Indexes.
What I don't understand is in fact it is taking 48 hours or more to rebuild,
why did start working immediately when I first installed Office 2007, then
imported my PST file? Something is fishy here. My next step is to do
exactly that, Export my PST, reload office and start again.
Any other suggestions?
