Outllook Incoming Mail Server Changes Itself

Alan

I have recently purchased a Dell Laptop with XP Home Edition.
I am using Tiscali ISP,Mc Fee Security Centre.

Problem is that although I setup my pop.tsicali.co.uk as i the incoming
server after less than one day this gets changed to an internal IP address
which means that I cannot receive any email. This happens with both Outlook
Express and Outlook 2003.

I have read an article in a recent Microsoft magazine article that indicates
that no-one knows what causes this or what the fix is!!!

As Dell ship all the products as part of the standard offering surely lots
of people are gettin this problem. Can anyone give me advice of how to
resolve this?

If the mail server address is getting changed to localhost or 127.0.0.1, it
means that you have a security program (most likely antivirus software) that
is installed that can scan email as it is downloaded. You would have to
disable that feature if you want the server name to stick.

Since you mention McAfee, I would start with it.
