outllook is not sending all of my e-mails. They sit in outbox???

I have had Outllook 2003 for some time now. All has been fine. Then suddenly
last week, a few of my outgoing e-mials are not being sent. They just sit in
the Outbox.
Usually when a message is waiting to be sent, it is italicized, now however,
the ones that will not send are NOT italicized and never send, no matter what
I press. I have to re-do the entire message, new e-mail, new message and
re-enter the address, before it will send. I cannot edit nor manipulate the
existing mail to get it to send. It won't. This seems to happen more on
REPLY's than new messages going out. Also, I did just purchase the udpate to
my Nortan antivirus software. I have had Norton AV 2004, and just upgraded
to 2006.
