Outlook '03 Error message follwed by shutdown & startup

I posted a ticket back in november 08 and haven't found any resolutions yet.
Reposting to see if anyone has tried anything that works...the problem with
Outlook displaying a message "Unknown error occurred that requires Outlook to
shutdown..." Click OK and Outlook closes and then restarts. This happens on
two occassions...deleting one or more emails and opening an attachment.

Someone mentioned that reformatting or reinstalling wouldn't help but that
is what I ended up resorting to because there was nothing else I could do. I
tried scanning the PST/OST files, no errors there.

HELP!

Did you check your Application Event Viewer for any Office or Outlook-related
error messages? Did you scan your PST for errors? Did you try creating a new
Outlook profile?

I tried scanning the PST - no errors, recreated the profiles and reformatted
one of the two users computers and it still caused problems. I can double
check the Event View and let you know if I find something.

"I found two on each machine, both somewhat similar error codes but varies at
the end of the log...
The description for Event ID (1000) in Source (Microsoft Office 11) cannot
be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information
or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be
able to use the /AUXSource = flag to retrieve this description; See Help and
Support for details. The following information is part of the event:
outlook.exe, 11.0.8169.0, 465f28e3, 0.0.0.0."

or "11.0.8169.0, 465f28e3, outlib.dll, 11.0.8169.0, 465f2870,0,0001719e"

second workstation:

"Faulting application, outlook.exe, version 11.0.8169.0, stamp 465f28e3,
faulting module outlib.dll, version 11.0.8169.0, stamp 465f2870, debug?0
fault address 0x0001719e"

or"...faulting module uknown, version 0.0.0.0, stamp 00000000, debug?0 fault
address 0x00000000. "

Any thoughts?

Is your Exchange account where your mail is delivered to? Your PST is simply
for storage of excess emails?

Have you tried deleting your OST file while Outlook is closed? It will
recreate when you next open Outlook.

One thing you may want to try is disabling your Add Ins to see if the problem
goes away. You can also try opening Outlook in /safe mode to accomplish the
same thing:

Start > Run > outlook.exe /safe

If Outlook opens normally and does not suffer errors and shuts down, one of
your Add Ins is the culprit. You can add them back one at a time until you
find the one causing the problem.

I will try the Safe mode for a few days on the two computers and get back to
you if that helps determine something.

Thanks.

On one of the workstations, there are no add-ins...should I still run it
in
safe mode?

Safe mode is not a solution. It is to be used only to diagnose a problem.
Do not use it for normal operation.

The users reported that in an attempt to open a pdf attached to an email, it
shut down and then started back up. But that is with disabling the add-in's
only.

After having one add-in disabled, the user reported the next day that in an
attempt to open a pdf attached to an email, Outlook shutdown and restarted.

Any thoughts? I'm all out of options for the user and after reformatting a
second computer that had similar symptoms but no addins, I am quite confused.
