Outlook 2000+ Addin

Mike Jones

We're interested in developing an Outlook addin, and would like to get some
advice from some of you who've maybe gone here first.

It would be most desireable to have it backward compatible to Outlook 2000.

I was looking at using C#/.NET. However, so far I haven't gotten any
samples to work. I'm becoming a little discouraged by some of the
websites/articles discussion the .NET Interop stuff, and am wondering if C#
is a good way to go. Perhaps a real COM object is better.

I'm curious about VB, although we do not usually use VB, so I'm hesitant to
go there. Then there's C++, which I'm well familiar with, but dealing with
COM from C++ usually seems to be quite painful.

Does anyone have any advice on which direction might be better, pitfalls or
advantages of the various techniques?

Thanks.
